Canadians should be mad at VRBO and HomeAway.com

Enhancements have been made and we are happier.  Look in the upper right-hand corner to change the currency from USD to your country's currency. In the below example you can see the rate difference from USD converted to Canadian $$. 

Our original post below was written in 2015

This started in September 2015 when VRBO implemented a "best match" policy. All foreign currencies were converted to USD.  Considering the large US and Canadian exchange rate difference the issue has escalated.

Our Canadian guests are inquiring via VRBO or HomeAway and they are seeing really low prices.........For example: the Lazy Bowen Hideaway summer rate for 2 guests rents for $205 CAD per night.........but the VRBO listing says $144 per night. It does not clarify that the $144 is US dollars. 

For Canadians to see the listing in Canadian dollars one needs to go to "rates" and change the currency from USD to Canadian dollars.  

This has affected ALL CANADIAN properties. Please help us to reverse this new policy as we feel it is a real disservice to our Canadian Guests. If you would like to see this changed please contact VRBO customer service and voice your complaint. We are doing the same.

MEANWHILE ~~~~ know that our other listing sites including Bowen Island Accommodations, Lazy Bowen Hideaway, Airbnb, and Flipkey all reflect our Canadian rates in Canadian dollars.
